Oregon Livestock Council
Eastern and Western Oregon
Request: $60,000
Oregon Livestock Council was launched in the fall of 2023, after evacuating their ranch in 2020 and again in 2022. No one was assisting livestock owners with evacuations during these events, or providing communication or coordination. They are a 100% volunteer and 100% grant/donation funded statewide nonprofit.
They have connected with 16 counties, 4 tribes and the Northwest American Indian Coalition, and OEM, OSFM, DHS OREM, and the Governor's office.
Oregon Livestock Council is fundraising for an evacuation and sheltering equipment Points of Distribution (POD) for each side of the mountains–Eastern Oregon and Western Oregon. Each POD costs about $200,000. This request would provide for the 24' enclosed Shelter/Command trailer for the Western Oregon POD, and (156) 12' corral panels to complete the 45' Corral Panel trailer setup for the Eastern Oregon POD. These are the most current needs for the Oregon Livestock Council to begin recruiting community volunteer members to train to respond.
