Elsie-Vinemaple fire district officially covers approx 40 square miles of frontier land in Clatsop County Oregon, unofficially we respond to just under 300 square miles of forest land from the Tillamook and Clatsop state forest. Our district operates on just over $100,000 in annual tax revenue, responding to just shy of 300 calls for service per year and operating brush rigs that are 18 and 32 years old. This grant fund would allow our district to purchase a newer, safer, better equipped wildland fire apparatus to protect both our community and our neighboring forest land. 100% of our fire district is built in the Wildland Urban Interface. We have seen increases in wildland fire response in my 2.5 years as fire chief with intensity of those incidents continuing to increase.
