We are in need of financial support for the Wheeler County Search & Rescue team. Most of this team are volunteers and people are using their own vehicles, dozers and money for gas, food and water to fight this latest fire. They work 24/7 for weeks at a time and they are exhausted.

Women in the town are being asked to provide food to the firefighters and we have no grocery store here other than a small convenience store so they are putting calls out to neighbors asking for apples, peanut butter, etc. in order to fulfill the request. The Wheeler County Sheriff's office has sanctioned the Spray General Store on their behalf to collect donations and find funding sources to help this team of local volunteer firefighters. I wrote a story about this town's response to the Lone Rock fire and I will attach it.

People in Wheeler County are mighty but they have been through extreme difficulty. Some ranches near Twickenham had to fight the fires with their neighbors at the beginning because local fire staff is so limited.  I saw a video of my friend's 10 year old son on a dozer, driving it to make dozer lines around his home. We need funds to cover gas, vehicle repairs, food reimbursement, defray any medical costs from smoke, fatigue, injuries, replace or repair fire equipment, obtain a refrigerator to store food in addition to water and electrolytes, and much more to the discretion of our incredible sheriff and fire marshal.
