Request: $125,000
Application Materials
We need security upgrades and a counselor.
We are hosting our community meeting November 3 to hear ideas and recommendations from families, we will at least need facility improvements that include:
vestibule (we believe we are the only school in BLS system without one)
intercom system across three buildings
door and window upgrades
fencing adjustments
To support student crisis management and prevention, we need a school counselor, at least part time to start (about $40,000 for the rest of this year) until we can strategize on how to sustain a counselor position.
Silver Rail Children's Fund
Request: $100,000
Our children need to be together, with trauma-informed care, now. We request support for the next six months (November 2026 to April 2027):
Special education first: small sensory-friendly gatherings, trained aides, adaptive equipment and quiet rooms
Licensed and bilingual counselors and therapy dog teams at every event
Healing groups for Spanish-speaking families, dads and parents, including meeting space at $150 an hour
Monthly family gatherings, classmate meetups and outings that give children new memories beside October 15
Help for families and local providers to apply for Crime Victims' Compensation, so therapy is covered for years
Our events fill within hours. Funding lets us book venues and counselors weeks ahead, not days, so no family is turned away.
