The Jacksonville Fire Department is seeking $57,000 to purchase a replacement command pickup truck. Our current vehicle has reached the end of its useful service life and no longer reliably meets the demands of emergency response, incident command, wildfire operations, inspections, and daily department operations. The full amount would allow us to purchase a properly equipped four-wheel-drive pickup that can safely operate in our wildland-urban interface, transport emergency equipment, and serve as a mobile command vehicle during emergencies. Receiving the full request would address our immediate need and eliminate the need to continue relying on an aging vehicle with increasing maintenance costs and reduced reliability. Any contribution toward this goal would directly reduce the remaining funding gap and help us acquire this critical public safety resource sooner.
