For the past several years, our agency has been implementing a long-term resiliency strategy to strengthen our ability to serve the communities within our protection district. This project represents the third major step toward achieving that goal.

As a wildland fire protection agency, our operational resilience is directly tied to the resilience of the communities we serve. Our headquarters functions as an operational hub for emergency response, incident coordination, communications, and resource management. Maintaining a reliable and resilient headquarters is essential to ensuring uninterrupted operations during wildfires, natural disasters, and other emergencies. Our headquarters are older and our current heating system is wood heat. Adequate heating and cooling are not something we currently have.

Previous state and county grant funding enabled us to install backup generators at our district headquarters and our mountain-top radio communications site. This project completes the third phase of our resiliency plan by providing uninterrupted electrical service at our headquarters, ensuring continuous emergency communications and agency operations during power outages and disasters. This project will enhance our ability to continue providing critical emergency services during and after disaster events, ensuring that our personnel, equipment, and communications remain operational when our communities need them most. Investing in the resilience of our headquarters is an investment in the safety, preparedness, and long-term resilience of the entire region we protect. Because this will be a new system, it is essential that it is designed and installed to meet all applicable codes and standards. Ensuring the system is properly sized, compliant, and reliable will provide effective, uninterrupted power to support critical emergency operations during outages and disaster events.
