The Cascades Region of the Red Cross is requesting support for our response to the ongoing fires in Oregon. We are currently operating shelters in response to the following fires: Beachcomb & Bench Fires (Madras, Jefferson County), Grasshopper Fire (Maupin, Wasco County), Green Mountain Fire (Prineville, Crook County), Hagen Fire (Pendleton, Umatilla County), Second Flat Fire (Crane, OR, Harney County), and have a stand-by shelter prepared for the Shingle Fire (John Day, Grant County). To date, the Red Cross has opened 17 different shelters, provided nearly 700 overnight stays, and served more than 1,500 meals at shelters across the state. This is an ongoing effort in the 5 shelters open as of 8/3/26 (one additional on standby) and partner work with three Tribal Liaisons. Red Cross shelters are open to anyone in need. Pets are welcome, and all disaster assistance is provided free of charge. Those in need do not have to stay overnight, they can simply come in for food, water, snacks, information, first aid, emotional and mental health services, charging stations for cell phones and medical devices, showers, and more.
