REGION
DISASTER
Families First Parent Resource Center
Request: $20,000
Application Materials
We are requesting funding to replace a very old heating/cooling system that continues to malfunction. We have been advised that the next time it happens, it may never work again. Our goal is to have the ability to serve as a warming center for children and families in the winter, a cooling center for children and families in the summer, and a smoke free zone during wildfire season. This is a priority because there are very few places in our county that are set up to accommodate families with children of all ages.
City of Seneca Fire Department
Request: $40,000
Application Materials
The City of Seneca seeks funding to improve an existing Fire Hall and bay to protect its fire engines and water tender during severe winter conditions. Currently, the tender must be drained to prevent freezing, limiting its ability to remain fully prepared for emergency response.
The project will relocate and reuse an existing interior wall to enclose the bay, add insulation and heating, install an electric overhead door and two ventilation fans, and complete necessary electrical improvements.
Central Oregon Disability Support Network
Request: $25,000
Application Materials
CODSN is seeking funding for Ready & Recover: Rural Disability Disaster Resilience, supporting rural families of children and young adults with disabilities who are recovering from wildfires and preparing for winter storms, extended power outages, and other emergencies. Disasters can create additional challenges for families who rely on disability-related supplies, communication supports, medications, transportation, electricity, or consistent routines and services.
Funding will provide approximately 50-60 families with individualized emergency preparedness and recovery supplies, peer support to develop practical family emergency plans, and two accessible CPR/First Aid trainings for family members and individuals with disabilities. Priority will be given to wildfire-impacted families, geographically isolated households, and families for whom disability-related needs create additional barriers during emergencies.
Ecosource Native Seed and Restoration
Request: $75,000
Application Materials
Eastern Oregon’s unprecedented wildfire impacts have created an urgent need for specialized expertise to understand what these fires have done to our landscapes and what successful recovery will require. EcoSource has established native-seed and restoration capacity, but we do not currently have dedicated wildfire ecology expertise to assess burned landscapes, identify restoration priorities, evaluate invasive-species threats, and translate those findings into native plant-material needs. EcoSource is seeking funding for a staff or contract employee, and has identified Trey Wall, an experienced local wildland fire and natural-resources professional, to provide this critical capacity.
American Red Cross, Cascades Region
Request: $141,750
The Cascades Region of the Red Cross is requesting support for our response to the ongoing fires in Oregon. We are currently operating shelters in response to the following fires: Beachcomb & Bench Fires (Madras, Jefferson County), Grasshopper Fire (Maupin, Wasco County), Green Mountain Fire (Prineville, Crook County), Hagen Fire (Pendleton, Umatilla County), Second Flat Fire (Crane, OR, Harney County), and have a stand-by shelter prepared for the Shingle Fire (John Day, Grant County).
Oregon State University Extension & Engagement
Request: $27,000
Application Materials
We want to supply box fan filters to improve air quality for smoke impacted people. We are working with local red cross organizations, fire districts, county emergency managers. We are the local trusted technical expertise and can provide education on building these fans.
Grant County Childcare Committee
Request: $19,783
We would like to add a permanent cooling center and clean air shelter, in addition to other resources. The funds requested are to cover a heat pump for the building. We are founded to support children and families in our community, and know there is a need for places for children to exist when it is unsafe to play outside due to air quality, temperature, or UV index.
