Immediate seed purchase for nearly 1,300 miles of wildfire suppression dozer lines across Wheeler County from the Rowe Creek Complex, Shingle Fire, and multiple smaller incidents ignited July 15th and still burning as of 08/04/2026. USDA has programs for disaster recovery; however, funding for those programs will not be available for application until the next federal fiscal year (November) and actions won't be funded until spring of 2027.

Request: $5,000

Companion Animal Medical Project (CAMP) is requesting $5,000 to purchase pallets of dog and cat food for families impacted by wildfires in Sisters, Prineville, and on The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. As emergency evacuations force residents from their homes, access to basic supplies is critical.

Gilliam Soil & Water Conservation District: Seed

Request: $74,993
Application Materials

An estimated 11,000 acres of standing winter wheat burned, approximately one seventh of the county's annual crop. New seed will prevent that bare ground filling with weeds that become future fire tinder, and the seed must be planted in October. Landowners will plant with their own equipment and fuel, this request is for the seed to replant, and four broadcast spreaders that attach to a side-by-side to seed steep and rocky ground.

Oregon Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster

Request: $30,715
Application Materials

ORVOAD is requesting funding to support a coordinated, statewide approach to wildfire response and recovery through the activation of a Statewide Unmet Needs Roundtable. Funding would cover one paid staff position to lead statewide coordination, a small media and communications budget, and support for a communication and coordination platform.

Funds will be used for post fire recovery efforts in case of wildfire in our area. Our greatest resilience need is to assist rural landowners or residents within WUI who may be affected by wildfires during this season to restore and recover natural resources. These areas are more vulnerable to wildfire impacts and have less access to resources to assist them.

A landslide occurred near Ruckel Falls that is blocking the Historic Highway State Trail, and no agency has the funding to address.

During the December rain event, the hillside above the Historic Highway State Trail slid and covered the Trail in ~12 feet of material (mud, rocks, trees) over 100 yards wide.

They are planning a large-scale hazard tree mitigation effort in partnership with Team Rubicon, with deployment scheduled for early April. This effort is a critical first step toward enabling safe rebuilding, as many properties remain inaccessible or unsafe due to fire-damaged trees.
