Happy Trails Horse Rescue & Sanctuary is located in a wildfire-prone area of Central Oregon, where wildfire poses a significant risk to our horses, facilities, and surrounding community. Grant funding would allow us to create and improve defensible space by removing hazardous vegetation and reducing combustible materials around our property. These improvements are essential to protecting vulnerable rescue horses, safeguarding our facilities, and improving emergency preparedness. As a nonprofit, our resources are primarily dedicated to horse care, rehabilitation, and helping local owners keep their horses during financial hardship. Grant assistance would allow us to address critical wildfire risks while preserving our ability to provide sanctuary for horses in need and temporary refuge for horses displaced by wildfires.
