We are seeking $200,000 to construct a modest emergency response station and equipment cache. Our volunteer firefighters are currently operating from a temporary fire station located on privately owned property. That property has now been listed for sale. Once it is sold, the District will lose the only facility available to house its fire engines, emergency equipment, and operational resources.

We are currently in need of another truck to pull a lowboy and dozer or an angle blade for a dozer. Both costs are about the same and we would decide which was needed the most at the time that finances were in order for the purchase and/or the availability of the needed equipment.

Capital Campaign to strengthen emergency preparedness and improve access to essential services for rural residents in Evans Valley, Oregon. Therefore, we are retrofitting our current facility and adding a community resource center that is ADA accessible as a public meeting or training space to serve seniors, people with disabilities, and residents with mobility limitations to participate in safety, health, and preparedness programs.

We’d like to install a 30K generator to supply power to the building so that our community can gather there during a power outage or disaster.  This would complete the basic installation of the generator–we have the pad and propane tank installed already. The last estimate would be between $38-$40,000.

We would like to add a permanent cooling center and clean air shelter, in addition to other resources. The funds requested are to cover a heat pump for the building. We are founded to support children and families in our community, and know there is a need for places for children to exist when it is unsafe to play outside due to air quality, temperature, or UV index.

The Jefferson Fire District is requesting funding for two ambulance gurneys, a power-load system, and thermal imaging cameras. This equipment is essential to maintaining and enhancing our life-saving capabilities during emergencies and natural disasters.

We would like to repair our wildfire water protection system and develop a reliable water source for wildfire fighting. We have some of the infrastructure but it needs repair and updating: a storage tank and pump system supplies a single hydrant on the property at this time. That system needs to be inspected and repaired.

Our headquarters are older and our current heating system is wood heat. Adequate heating and cooling are not something we currently have. This project completes the third phase of our resiliency plan by providing uninterrupted electrical service at our headquarters, ensuring continuous emergency communications and agency operations during power outages and disasters.

We request $75,000 to finance a new-to-us Brush truck purchase and associated pumps, hoses and fittings. So far in 2026, North Pendleton RFPA has responded to one large fire at over 8,000 acres, and two mutual aid requests that were less than 10 acres. No structures were lost thus far. Response vehicles to fires this year have all been farmer or rancher owned vehicles or tractors, which are not equipped for fighting fires.

We have leads on used water tenders from other fire districts, and would love to find a new or nearly new vehicle that could be customized to fit our particular need, rugged gravel roads, steep forest roads with little access or egress. Without the Prospect RFPD, the nearest fire response would be 30–45 minutes away, placing the community at even greater risk.

Our district operates on just over $100,000 in annual tax revenue, responding to just shy of 300 calls for service per year and operating brush rigs that are 18 and 32 years old. This grant fund would allow our district to purchase a newer, safer, better equipped wildland fire apparatus to protect both our community and our neighboring forest land.

We are looking at purchasing new mystery ranch wildland packs for each active member of the department to better equip our volunteers with life saving equipment that functions and is up to date.

Our Summer Work Program for high school youth consists of a team of students who work on natural resource management projects on rural properties. This year’s team will complete wildlife mitigation on seven properties, work on the Powder Basin Watershed Council's (PBWC) beaver habitat restoration project, and record monitoring data for Wallowa Resources on behalf of the USFS.
